Listeners, you have to eat your greens! ;) What's your favourite vegetable? Tell us in Hungarian below!

Hi Natasha!

That is not a question we hear often :smile:

Uborka would refer to anything that has cucumber in it and pickles as well.

Kigyóuborka is the long type of cucumber when it is in a raw state.

Tengeri uborka is sea cucumber.

I have run out of cucumber types in Hungarian:smile:

Szia!

Growing up, my Hungarian mum would always refer to a cucumber as 'uborka' is there a difference between this and kigyouborka? (sorry for the no accents) or did I just hear her wrong?

Hi Rene,

Good sentences, but there are some typos. :)

Az asztalon salátA van. / There is salad on the table.

A salátában zöldségek vanNAK. / There are vegetables in the salad.

A salátában paradicsom, paprika, fejes saláta, spénot, hagyma és szójabab van (van or vannak?)

/ There are peppers, lettuce, spinach, onion, and soy beans in the salad.

Both plural and singular are fine here.

Hajrá!

Hi Rene,

Both word orders are correct. :)

However:

zöldségek is "vegetables"

zöldségem is "my vegetable"

zöldségeim is "my vegetables"

A kedvenc zöldségeim a bell paprika, a burgonya, a spenót, és a fejes saláta.

Hajrá!

My favorite vegetables are peppers potatoes, spinach, and lettuce.

Should I reverse the order and say it like this?

A bell paprika, a burgonya, a spenót, és a fejes saláta mind a kedvenc zöldségekem.

Peppers, potatoes, spinach and lettuce are all my favorite vegetables.

Szép napot! / Have a nice day!

Szia,

I think there's a mistake in the PDF corresponding to this lesson. The Hungarian text says: "Négy fő fajta létezik a hagymákból, a

vöröshagyma, a fehér hagyma, a lilahagyma, és az édes hagyma," while the English translation goes: "There are four basic types of onions: yellow and brown, white, red, and sweet." What is yellow and what is brown in the Hungarian text? Thanks in advance.
